Muga, London
M U G A is a Japanese Ramen Restaurant on Panton Street, SW1Y, recently opening, and also one of JPR Media Group’s New Clients. All of the food is freshly prepared in an open plan kitchen in front of you as you eat, and it also accommodates a cocktail bar in its lower ground, which is open past the closing time of the restaurant.
MUGA is known for their authentic Ramen noodles with special toppings to meet British flavours, yet their authenticity of Japanese ramen noodles is kept and a mouth-watering experience at the Ramen counter is guaranteed, and i can vouch for this!
The simplicity, yet bold logo of the restaurant draws you in as you can see it just past the turn in the Street:
And the interiors are again, simple yet effective. All the colours are in harmony with the wooden flooring and chairs, ( holla’ to the interior designer! ) as well as the beautiful display of sake and more drinks downstairs in the bar area. I also enjoyed walking past some of the paintings and prints on the wall. And the music that plays subtly in the restaurant is really soothing and adds to the relaxed and social environment of MUGA.
I especially loved the Open-plan kithcen, where we could see the chef ( Michelle Mendez ) create all the amazing dishes.
We started with a starter of Mixed Seaweed salad, followed by Chicken Dumplings (Age-Gyoza) and Octopus Balls (Takoyaki)! We were a bit anxious to try something so exotic but it was definitely worth the risk! The outside is crispy to perfection, and the inside soft and warm. It almost melts in your mouth,. The dumplings were cooked to perfection and the Salad, extremely tasteful!
Now the best part – Ramen! Our waiter ( Eddie ) recommended the Shio ( Salt-based Ramen with thin Noodles ) for Natasha and the Tonkotsu ( Pork-based Ramen with thin Noodles ) as I am more of a meat lover!
After the filling Ramen (we hardly got through) we went onto eating the Mochi (Rice Cake with caramel and Vanilla ice-cream core – and soy powder) which was actually Heaven. Followed by an amazing range of cocktail selections.
The staff are extremely friendly and funny, and most importantly funny and cheerful! I will definitely be returning here very soon!
Thank you, Eddie
